Rapala’s Elite models, based on the brand’s classics, closely resemble their predecessors in appearance but include specific refinements in details and construction aimed at achieving top-level finish and durability. In the Elite series lures, the body wire is a single continuous piece welded together, cast inside the plastic lip, and then glued into a groove in the balsa body’s belly. This creates a large bonding surface, making the structure extremely durable. The body wire is also flattened, which makes it 30% stronger than the round version. In addition, the method of attaching the diving lip has been improved: instead of a plastic-to-balsa joint, Elite lures use a plastic-to-plastic joint, which significantly increases the strength of the connection.
